Pay and Benefits:
We offer competitive negotiable pay and benefits that is based on demonstrated skills and experience.
Typical Work Hours: 7:30 am-4:00 pm M-F. Times are approximate and can fluctuate depending on the day and scope of work that needs to be done. We usually take around a week off during Christmas, at which time you can take any earned Vacation Time or take the time unpaid if you choose.
Location: Longhouse is based in Estacada, but there is no need to live here. You will be
reporting to job sites locations all over the Portland Metro Area, including Troutdale, Lake Oswego, Milwaukee, Oregon City, Sandy, Gresham, etc.

A typical day consists of usually a morning text or call with Stephen reviewing what the days schedule looks like and any material that may need to be picked up before arriving at the job site. Meeting up at the jobsite and getting set up. Stephen, the owner of Longhouse, will arrive onsite most days and often works with the crew when he is not working on estimates, permits, or having homeowner/design meetings. As a foreman you would be expected to help run the jobsite, keep the production schedule going, and help anticipate and problem solve any issues that come up. You will also be expected to keep the crew productive and creating quality work while keeping the site clean and safe.
Skills of an ideal Carpenter include:
*Knowledge of all phases of construction and take pride in your work.
*Able to safely operate all common tools, including saws, ladders, hand tools, etc.
*Knowledge of various construction materials and their appropriate applications.
*At least 5 years experience in construction field.
*Basic Math Skills- including how to read a tape measure and obtain square footages for take offs.
* Willing to work outside and inside, no matter the weather.
*A willing attitude to always learn new construction methods and to stay up to date on the latest materials, trends, and code requirements.
Skills of an ideal Forman in addition to the carpenter skill list include:
*Ability to not only self manage your work load, but keep your crew productive and efficient.
*Be responsible for the efficient and profitable use of the company's time, manpower, and materials on each project.
*Ensure that crew is keeping jobsite clean.
*Willing to do complex work and installs.
*Knowing when it's time to speed up and get production done and knowing when it's time to slow down and focus on high quality finish work.
*Ability to complete take off lists for materials and plan out effective use of material
*Ability to read blue prints and understands structure/load.
*Is a leader in keeping the jobsite safe.
Minimum requirements for any position:
*Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
*Must be able to lift minimum 60lbs.
*Adherence to safety protocols, ensuring a secure and hazard-free work environment.
*Clean driving record. Valid Drivers License. Reliable Transportation to travel between jobsites during the day.
* Knowledge of basic math, geometry, and how to read a tape measure.
* Reliable both in attendance and punctuality.
*Must have your own hand tools (tool bag, tape measure, cat's paw, hammer, razor blade, etc.)
*Must know how to safely operate power tools (Impact Driver, Table Saw, Chop Saw, Etc.)
* Must know how to accurately measure and cut wood for framing, decks, and trim work, including scribe cutting, and complex crown.
* Ability to think ahead several steps in the assembly process and anticipate issues and needs.
